Even large telematic projects such as the "Piazza Virtuale" - by the nomadic artist/technician group Ponton TV, that once transported a three and a half ton boulder to the Himalayas as an art-transport project between cultures - can't hide the fact that one can't live, work, travel ... in the networks on a long term basis, that social contexts for the projected "new eloquence in the public domain" have not yet been established. The previous pilot projects are still too oriented on the familiar paradigms of transmission and reception. Interconnections are primarily executed on the technological level: We interconnect the existing classical media such as a computer bulletin board system, Videotext, picture-phones, cameras, etc. We interconnect them and assemble them on a surface. Of course there is nothing especially new in that. But what we are interested in is bringing all these media together in a live context. That doesn't mean playing tapes pre-recorded in a studio, but rather to allow all the media to circulate during a program, and as far as possible, to adapt them to what can and will happen on a stage.
