So there was a body of sorts, the body of art gathered under the
Sonderauftrag Linz, the secret special assignment to acquire by theft or forced
sale art intended for the largest museum in Europe which Hitler would build in
Linz. And yes, by the time the Allies came to open the salt mines where the
artworks were stored, some of the art had disappeared, though whether forever
or only for a time, remains unclear.
