System Integration

On the hardware level, the "Electronic Cafè" impresses through the media integration of all available media - on the soft ware level, a type of simple mail box program functions as a communal data base - "community memory": "Every user has unlimited interactive access to the data bases and is equally entitled to offer submissions. Everyone can send messages any time, open files, read other messages and enter comments and suggestions through openly accessible terminals in libraries, supermarkets, cafeterias, and community centres. There is neither censorship nor personal files although messages and files can only be altered by their authors (...) an instrument for collective thinking, planning, organisation, decision making (...)
